It’s race day for Professional, and I couldn’t make the trip to Tampa Bay Downs. But I have the next best thing: simulcast at Churchill Downs!
Bear with me as I’m writing this post on my phone, as I watch dozens of other races in the Parlay at Churchill Downs.
Of course, the main event for me is the 6th race from Tampa Bay Downs. My horse, Professional, is set to run his first race. I really wish I could have made it to Tampa, but life didn’t permit this time. Still, I am enjoying myself in the Parlay and learning a lot from my fellow racing enthusiasts.
The Parlay is a surprisingly lively environment with lots of yelling and cheering at the dozens of races happening throughout the country. I wasn’t sure what to expect, but it definitely was not this.
I managed to find myself a nice place to sit, right in front of the Tampa Bay Downs TV. This is a mixed bag for me, as I’ll have a great view of the race, but now I do not want to get up and chase down a bourbon. Maybe next time. Of course, if Professional has a good showing, chances are good there will be some bourbon in my future.
